Marbella Marbella Adelante is delighted to have the opportunity to present the art of Finnish Artist Auli Suvanto-Salokannel.
Auli Suvanto-Salokannel was born in Finland. Living in the nature and Helsinki city, gave her imagination and feeling for form.
But it was in Holland where she did her 5 years of classical training in painting, sculpting and drawing.
’’It is a long journey to become a painter. You need talent, drive and good teachers. You must learn how to draw before you paint, understand forms, techniques and go to the museum to meet the old masters. When I paint I hear the teachers whisper behind my back. I listen and rebel.
I make mainly portraits and imaginary paintings. In portrait painting it is important to combine art, likeness and character. In imaginary paintings I often think of a place where I have been. Colours are so important to me. That little bit of extra colour can make the whole painting work.
In Finland I work with children and exhibit their work. There is so much talent in these children. They are the next generation of artist. In Andalusia I am fascinated by the caves. I come down ever so often to paint in my art studio. The sky is so bright and the mountain view so beautiful. In Andalusia I really want to take my brushes out and paint’’.
