On Wednesday the 5th of October, Damián Caneda the Councillor of the Culture Department of Malaga, opened an exhibition by Dutch artist Ernst Kraft, titled Entre líneas, (between the lines), at the official Malaga exhibition room in the Archivo Municipal (Municipal Archive), Alameda principal, 23 in Malaga.  The exhibition  presented 26 works, by far the most created in the current year 2011, including paintings, mixed techniques on paper and objects-sculptures.

His expressionistic abstract work has been impressively written about in an article by the art historian Bernardina Roselló, which was featured as the introduction of the catalogue, edited by the Cultural Department of Malaga.

Ernst Kraft normally works in his two studios, alternating between the one in Mijas village, where he constructs his sculptures and makes the scale models of his installations and other outdoor constructions, and in Malaga centre, where he makes most of his paintings and drawings. Yet another important way of creating is done “en situ”, on the spot, as those created on several times in Passau, Germany, in León, Mexico, or in Santa Rosa, Argentina, and as planned for next year in Trinidad, in Cuba.

Kraft is also the co-ordinator of the International Drawing Project DIN A4. He brought this unique contemporary art collection to Malaga in 2008, where it is kept in the same Municipal Archive, and with the support of the Culture department selections of its patrimony, more then a 1000 works are exhibited worldwide,  most recently in Madrid and in Lima, Peru.

There was a large gathering of an expectant public and media patiently waiting outside for their turn to enter and see the exhibition. Many important artists such as internationally known painters Jorge Lindell, Michèle Lehmann, Alan Burden, Verónica Romero, Ramón Paredes, Ted Reynolds and painter / flamenco Dancer Salomé Vicenta, attended the opening of the exhibition and by their appearance  added their interest, support and prestige to Ernst’s creations.

The event had a huge press covering in all the papers, like El Mundo, Malaga Hoy, Diario Sur, and La Opinión, which next day published their articles and photos of the event.
