International Art Festival Marbella 2010

Monday, 28 December 2009No Comment

Now in its second year, the Festival aims to promote artists to their audiences in a vibrant fun-filled environment. It will take place over a four day period from 17 – 20 June in the very heart of Marbella, located in the Alameda Park and the Avenida del Mar.

Over 100 selected artists – painters, photographers and sculptors – will take part, mostly on an individual basis, some with their galleries. They will be supported by a dazzling array of live performances of music dance and theatre targeted at all ages.

The Festival is based on a highly successful American model intended to enhance cultural activity in the community. Residents and tourists alike will enjoy a rare opportunity to mingle with artists from all over Spain and beyond. The Festival will also promote Marbella as a cultural centre with the spin-off effect of attracting numerous visitors.

The 2009 Festival was an unequivocal success. An estimated 20,000 visitors took part: sales of 200,000 Euros were achieved: the Festival attracted widespread media coverage both local and international lasting over a ten month period.

The response from artists, visitors and sponsors was exceptionally positive. One such supporter the prestigious Houses of Art Gallery on the Golden Mile is sponsoring “The Young Artists” Competition. The winner will again have the opportunity of having their own exhibition at the Gallery.

The Festival is the brainchild of Pixie Glore and Caroline Bowley. Pixie Glore is an established American artist living in Marbella. She has a wealth of experience in organizing art festivals in the USA. Caroline Bowley (President) is an interior designer and is the President of Women in Business Spain, an all-woman networking group. Eli Martin (Secretary) is also an artist and manages the Van Gestal Gallery in Plaza los Naranjos, Casco Antiguo, and Marbella. Also involved are a team of dedicated volunteers who bring their time and expertise to the Festival organisation.

If you are an artist, please register as soon as possible and you will be able to enjoy the kudos that comes from being associated with a top level Fiesta of Art.
