Buddy Greco - Dario's Musical Memory Lane!
I have taken this opportunity walk down memory lane once again and share with you, some of my musical experiences with personalities I have been associated with in my career. The great Buddy Greco is one of these special talents.Â
As the duo Dario and Delia we had the opportunity to work with Buddy Greco the great American international singer entertainer and Jazz  legend at the popular theatre “The Heart of the Midlands” in Nottingham England, during the early seventies and were able to see and experience his superb talent and professionalism first hand, and I well remember how he drove the audiences wild with his music and showmanship. I also recall that playing along with him, was Fabio, the finest bass player I have ever seen or heard in my entire musical career. Buddy was a charming personality very kind to Delia and I and we enjoyed his company socially.Â
Buddy Greco (born Armando Greco, August 14, 1926, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American singer and pianist, who began playing piano at the age of four. His first professional work was playing with Benny Goodman‘s band but most of Greco’s work has been in the jazz and pop genres. He has recorded about 65 albums and 100 singles. He has had an active concert career playing in symphony halls, theatres, nightclubs, and Las Vegas showrooms (in the 1960s he made appearances with the Rat Pack). Greco recorded sporadically after this album, but the live shows kept on coming and he has performed in most of the top nightclubs in the world. His last nationally charted record was “From Atlanta to Goodbye” on the Scepter label. It made Billboard’s Easy Listening Top 40 in 1969. Greco continued to appear at his club in Cathedral City, California until its closure in August, 2009.
In 2008, Greco toured the UK with his wife Lezlie Anders. Together they performed dates with the BBC Big Band and played at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London. Greco made history as the first Las Vegas headliner to star at a British casino when he performed in cabaret on 8 August 2008 at the Circus Casino, Star City, Birmingham, England.
