"Marbella Marbella" Goes Jazz with Yanela Brooks & Louis Fiers at Da Bruno's Marbella
“Marbella Marbella” goes Jazz”
Music by Dario Poli, English lyrics by Alan Ward and Dario Poli. Jazz version arranged and played by Louis Fiers, sung and interpreted by the great Cuban singing star Yanela Brooks, at the presentational event, which was held at and supported by, Da Bruno’s Restaurant in Marbella on April 2009, compered by artist Mugge Fischer and filmed by Martyn Wood smithwoodproductions.com.
Dario Poli’s campaign to promote Marbella and the Costa del Sol with his promotional ideas was inspired again, when Dario the composer of the music “Marbella Marbella,” heard his music played and presented to him, in a Jazz format created by the famous jazz musician Louis Fiers, he was gob-smacked, especially by Fiers’s arrangement and his virtuoso playing, as his hands effortlessly flowed across the keys of his new piano. For Dario it was a real tour de Force. He introduced Louis to Yanela Brooks, one of the most exciting and professional performers on the coast, and it resulted in a successful musical collaboration with Louis’s new jazz creation of Dario’s music, which was performed and recorded live by Yanela and Louis at Da Bruno’s excellent restaurant in Marbella, to a packed and appreciative audience, with much of the media in attendance.
Louis Fiers from Ghent in Belgium, was considered to be one of the best exponents of Jazz in Europe and his CV is a who’s who, of Jazz legends he has worked with, including Count Basie, Catarina Valente, Sidney Bechet, Toots Theilemans, Jack Say, along with Bill Haley and one of the world’s greatest Jazz musicians Bill Coleman who worked with Louis in Paris and the great Spanish bass player Francisco Pose. He also had the great pleasure of performing for the Belgian Royal Family at a command performance.
