Mijas Playa charity

The charity event held at the glamorous Mijas Playa restaurant proved to be to be a great success for Alzheimer’s Research, the guests, all the super artists, and for Maurice Boland the popular professional from TRE Radio FM who was the compare for the evening.

The visiting guests showed their appreciation for the terrific performances from exciting Johnny G who opened the show, the beautiful voices of the gospels singers 2 True, followed by Scottish star Samantha Mairs, who performed a great set with terrific verve and energy and sang the song “Marbella Marbella” supported by the gospel singers.

Maurice Boland then introduced the young Rebecca Tate who sang two beautiful numbers that received a very warm reception, and topping a bill of stars, was tenor Stephen Lloyd-Morgan, who despite having a heavy cold, got everyone to their feet with an outstanding performance, finishing his show with a duet with young Rebecca, singing “The Prayer for Haiti” which received a standing ovation for their heart-rending performance. Gareth Christian completed the night of music by getting everyone dancing with a tremendous burst of musical energy.

Maurice Boland raised money with a raffle and auction and resident musician David Mairs, one of the principle organisers, wrote that they had a great night at the fund raiser. He received €2250 with more to come, after the parachute jump, in the way of pledges and he received a call from the promoter of the Smokie concert, inviting him to their pre concert reception, where he received from the band, a goody bag containing t-shirts, DVDs, CDs, and signed photographs of the band to be auctioned at the fund raiser.

Paul Wilcockson, one of the coasts top photographers, took many pictures of the event, some of which you will find below.
