New improvements to Marbella

Marbella Town Hall has started a programme of cultural and tourist activities in the old town in order to promote commercial activity in the area. The mayor, Angeles Muñoz, has said that the plan is to attract the greatest number of visitors and residents possible to one of the prettiest and most complete areas in the city. The activities include exhibitions, concerts, gastronomic programmes, fashion shows and competitions, which will bring people to local shops, bars and restaurants.

The mayor said that she would like people who visit Malaga on cruise ships to also come to Marbella to see all that it has to offer. The summer months will see jazz, soul and classical concerts, as well as a tapas fair. Another plan is to have an antiques market every Sunday.

Plans to improve the area include improving the illumination of La Encarnacion Church, and improvements to Plaza del Ejido and Calle Carmen to the castle.
