Emma a Beauty from F.A.M.A Presented by Patricia Mary Coleman
F.A.M.A. Foundation for Mistreated and Abandoned Animals.
“In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog”
“At FAMA really do love our animals, we give them the best we are able whilst they are with us. I feel very happy and content having started FAMA alone 7 years ago. We are still small, but the people involved are like minded people. So far this year we have found kind loving homes for 62 dogs. All of which we have photos of in their new homes . Sometimes it is hard to watch them go as they came to us so very sad. sad for many reasons, having been beaten, starved of food starved of love and much much more. When they then go through our gate a this happy healthy dog to travel to their new home it is of course a delight. I have to say at times we have to carry them out as it has been not only there home, but somewhere safe. No person hurt them, they had food love and playtime. When they walk through the gate they really do not know what faces them. They look back at you saying why are you letting me go. But we know, but sadly they do not realise that they are going to join a family who will take care of them and love them as much as we do.
I am also very grateful. We have no sponsors or paying members at FAMA. Members is out of choice, I would hate to spoil what we have.” Patricia Mary Coleman.
Emma, a Mastine cross was heavily pregnant and abandoned. She sat outside the main entrance to Seville prison for many days waiting for someone to take pity on her. Apparently Emma tried many times to ‘latch on’ to passers-by looking for help.
and is now being cared for, by Pat’s dedicated and wonderful volunteers, who give their all to help the animals.
Fortunately someone did help. They made many calls to various rescue centers and finaly F.A.M.A.took her into their shelter.
On the 14th February, Valentines Day, Emma gave birth to seven healthy pups. Five boys and two girls. She was, and still is a kind and devoted mother, allowing all of the F.A.M.A. volunteers to cuddle and help care for her large family.
Once the puppies were weaned they were taken to a foster home to give Emma a well earned rest.
They all thrived, and at the appropriate times received full immunisations and parasite treatment to protect them through later life. All veterinary costs paid for by F.A.M.A. which is a registered foundation.
Emma has now been spayed and immunised and remains a sweet and gentle natured dog waiting to be adopted.
Her pups returned to the shelter at four months to also await adoption, and the family still play together.
Frieda is a new arrival to the F.A.M.A. kennels, brought there after she was recently found abandoned, frightened and desperate

A commendation for F.A.M.A.
“Dear Pat,
Many many thanks for sending me these beautiful photos of Freida. She is so sweet, but was in a bad way when I found her.
I am so glad you took her in and I was most impressed by your kennels, the dogs and the special people I met there.
Though I did not show it, I was deeply touched, as I have seen a few depressing kennels in my life, but yours, was filled with energy, health and brimming with enthusiasm, both from the people and the animals and it was really noticeable.
I felt inclined to help you in what ever way I can.”

Thank you Dario on hightlighting the plight some animals go through. We at FAMA work as a team, which enables us to give our dogs at FAMA care needed before they move on to new families.

Hello Pat and hello Lisa,
I am glad you liked our presentation; but it’s people like you we all need to thank and help for the work you are doing in the shelter, is incredible. I have just come back from a long trip and still trying to catch up with my backlog of email communications, but you have come top of the pile.
We hope Emma and the other super dogs find loving homes.
Best regards Dario.

This is to than Dario for the article posted on FAMA and to Pat, Annie, Lisa and all the rest of the wonderful volunteers at FAMA. I have been fortunate to have met these lovely people and hope that I can in the future help with fund raising. If anyone out there has any ideas for us please let me know on the above e-mail. In the meantime I think you girls do an amazing job and you will all go to doggy heaven one day where all the dogs you have helped over the years will be waiting to greet you. God bless you all. "Swaggerpants" was the name of my Mother's boarding/breeding kennels during the 60ties. She nurtured many abandoned dogs and cats who were sadley in need of love and care placing them in a new life with loving new owners. You have brought many sad and happy memories back to me. I wish you every success with your very important work.

They give so much and ask for so little!

I went to Pat at FAMA in September 2006 asking her if she had any small dogs – She had one called Daisy who was a kind of Big Chihuahua –
She was a sad dog who was quite nervous but also barked a lot especially at men – thankfully 5 years on she has gotten a bit better and a lot happier!!! She hated been picked up or messed with so god only knows what kind of life she had previously,.
Pat took her from the Dog pound (killing Stations) as her owner had died – an old spanish man – She was with Pat for 3 months with some puppies as she was such a grumpy Madam she didnt like any of the other dogs !!! They i decided to adopt her and she has been all over Spain with me and to England twice – last year i returned to UK and Daisy seems quite happy here!!
I kept in touch with pat and visited as much as i could – She and the volunteers there do an amazing job with very little money – Pat keeps going and is cheery and positive even though she must get so heart broken sometimes with the situation in spain re dogs and the terrible conditions some of the dogs arrive in.
I bought the dogs about 6 or 7 little swimming pools which they love and pat brings them out every summer – im glad I could do a little bit to help FAMA they all work so hard there also have wonderful success stories with many dogs going abroad to their new homes!
Wishing you all lots of luck at the FAMA kennels and well done to all of you !!! xxx
