Marbella Marbella - Adelante is joined by the skilled pen of Mike Al-Amiry
To begin with a positive start to the new year, it gives me great pleasure to introduce to our visitors and contributors, the literary skills of Mike Al-Amiry, who has joined our band of talents and supporters of the arts and culture. A Positive emphasis on the good qualities that we as people from all backgrounds and cultures can produce is especially needed at a time, when our world appears to be surrounded by an ever increasing negativity, fear, and threats of war and destruction. Mike will be writing some articles that will allow us to take time for ourselves and glimpse into a positive world which exists around and within us. A doorway that only needs to be pointed out to us and the key inserted, to unlock the amazing possibilities of thoughtful understanding and vision.
“Music In Nature” will be his first contribution to our site and will be published shortly and as editor I can recommend this intriguing work.
Part of our our title “A Safe haven of Arts and Culture” comes from a sentence from Mike’s pen that we attribute to and thank him for, when he wrote, “I would also like to compliment Dario Poli on his tastefully presented cultural website; humanity is in desperate need of the safe havens of arts and culture to remind us that despite the inhumanity we encounter every day, we can still be civilised”, words that accurately express our own sentiments.
Mike’s Biography
Mike Al-Amiry was born in Baghdad-Iraq in 1946; for his further education he moved to England in 1964, where he then took a forward leap out of The Manchester Business School in 1968 and started his own business, and after spending several years in the fashion business he moved into the leisure industry.
He spent the following 30 years as a Restaurateur and owner of bars and nightclubs. According to Mike, he attained his unique perspective of life by looking at it through the bottom of a glass; “distortion can often offer a clearer image of what is already distorted” he would always claim.
Sometime before reaching retirement age, Mike followed his passion for the English language and he first took a sideways step into factual writing, but upon constant encouragement from his partner of many years Rachael, who is much younger, prettier and (sometimes) wiser, he went fully into writing fiction. Mike has since then authored 5 fiction novels, the first to be published (3 Days to Lazarus. ISBN: 9781908775313) will be on general release in Jan / Feb 2012, it is an action-packed speculative political thriller, set in an Orwellian world that could have been, and may yet come to be.
