We are delighted to announce that the Marbella Marbella team have been joined by a great British sculptor and artist Christopher Stone. We are more than pleased that he has offered to write articles on Art for this site, drawn from his considerable professional experience, not only in his own metier, but also from the world of creative artists that he frequents. I leave Christopher to tell you about himself in his own words. Dario.
Hello my name is Christopher Stone, I am a sculptor, I was born and bred in London 55 years ago. After doing the knowledge I drove a black cab there for ten years helping to finance my art.
I moved to Seville 20 very odd years ago and dedicated myself to full time art, 17 years ago I landed on Ibiza where I have been ever since.
I have had some share of success, I have exhibited worldwide, and I have pieces of my art in many countries, In both public and private collections, I have had ups and downs like all artists, I could have done without this recent financial crisis, it definitely has not helped me, and countless others, I also know that there are many who are far worse off.
Some time ago I made the acquaintance of Stephen Howe’s, he has taken me under his wing, and our relationship has grown, Stephen has plans for some exhibitions at the Marbella casino, the first will take place throughout April 2011, they will be extravagant, colourful, with something in the range of a million euros worth of art in each, don’t be discouraged by big numbers, there will be something for everyone, all the work is created by some very talented, and special artists.
Stephen introduced me to Dario, we got it together and, here I am, I do not pretend to be any kind of expert on art, but it is my love, I do not pretend to be any kind of writer, but I enjoy writing, and between the two I shall endeavour to share some of my thoughts and feelings with you all. all the best Chris!
