Le Chic Race Nights
The summer horse-racing season is fast approaching at the Hipodromo de Mijas. Saturday the 3rd of July is the first of 6 “Race nights”, “night” because it is too hot to race during the day, but also because it is a night out for all that attend.
This year sees the opening of the first themed entertainment within the Hipodromo, the live music bar “Le Chic“.
“Le Chic” is on the VIP terrace, just inside the main entrance, and is the only elevated public area with superb views over the whole race circuit and plaza, and live music.
The “Le Chic” theme is 70s and 80s Disco with international DJ’s of that era and a live band playing all the best known songs from that great period of music. The first thing people arriving at the racecourse will see is one of the many mirror-balls, flashing from the top of the marquee that covers half of the 1000m2 terrace.
Free entry to “Le Chic” and normal bar prices, combined with a rustic “Tropical Cocktails” bar in one corner, a VIP zone with waiter service, great food from the barbecue, and of course music that most people know and love, will ensure their “Night at the races” is a memorable one.
The night at “Le Chic” starts at 20:30 when the racecourse opens its doors, the music starts straight away and the barbecue is fired up to serve juicy 100% beef burgers, smoked salmon wraps, samosas and many more freshly made dishes. Limes will be chopped for that perfect “Hot summer night” Mojito, and people in the VIP area will nibble on canapés and sip cava cocktails, reclining on comfy sofas. The live music starts at 21:00 with the resident band and special guests.
The first race of the evening is at 22:30 and as the crowds surge towards the rail, those lucky people in “Le Chic” will have the best view on the course from up on high. After each race the band will play some hits from the 70s and 80s, after the last race at about 00:45 the party really gets under way with all the visual effects you would expect from an 80s disco.
We hope that some real party animals will come to “Le Chic” in 70s and 80s clothes, and for those that do we will lavish them with gifts (well a drink on the house at least).
Special events include a Michael Jackson Tribute show, Funky dance show, Classic Cars Rally on Saturday 10th July and for the ladies – “Ladies night at Mijas Hipódromo”, based on “Ladies day at Royal Ascot”, high fashion, party atmosphere, beautiful women… Saturday 24th July.
