During the past week, the number of cases of A/H1N1 swine flu has been decreasing in Spain according to the latest report from the Ministry of Health.

During the week of 22-28 November, Spain saw the first fall of A/H1N1 infections in several weeks. The infection rate currently stands at 243.71 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with 105,304 new cases registered during the week.

The level of infection stood at 371.68 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, just a week earlier, with 158,942 new cases reported.

The data back up the Spanish government’s prediction that cases of the flu would peak at the end of November.

Although the mortality rate remains low at 0.15 deaths per 1,000 cases, 169 people have lost their life to the virus in Spain.

Over 1 million Spaniards have now received the vaccine against the virus, according to the statement released Thursday by the Spanish government.
