Concert Success for the Children for Peace in Marbella
Concert Success for the Children for Peace
June 23 2012 was indeed a special night for Marbella and its inhabitants, and for those fans who travelled from near and far to participate in and enjoy this unique concert occasion presented at the the Hotel Puente Romano to see and hear the vocal brilliance of Spanish opera stars Monserrat Caballe, Monserrat Marti and famous Russian tenor Nikolay Baskov.
An estimated audience of over 1500 expectant fans which included Royalty, celebrities and the media, were given an outstanding performance in the humid evening heat by the two distinguished ladies, which can only be described as a musical tour de force.
Sadly Baskov the Russian tenor, was unable to sing, due to becoming unwell the night before, though he did attend and spoke to the audience, especially quite naturally, to his disappointed Russian fans. However the two vocalists more than made up for his absence with a superb vocal performance which include works from Rossini and Bellini. They received a tumultuous ovation at the end of their performance by the appreciative audience.
The children from Manuela Veronese’s FAMA dance school, wearing white shirts displaying the charities logo, paraded joyfully along the corridors between the seated guests, with an colourful array of flags of many countries receiving an appreciative applause from the expectant audience, and then the evening began with the arrival on the large stage of Debra Mace the President of The Children for Peace who then made a speech thanking everyone concerned with the Children For Peace charity and for all those people who came to the concert then she invited the Vice President Lamia Khassoghi onto the large stage along with humanitarian and UNESCO artist for peace Marisa Berenson and sponsor Signor Leonardelli from Italy.
The concert proved to be a great success for The Children for Peace in many different ways, but most importantly, it highlighted the urgent need to help children existing in sad situations of dire need and significant amounts of money was raised by this event for the children.
