Engine by Mara Lemanis

Beneath my skin
the engine
that ignites
my fuel burns
alternating
frequencies
of waves that
like tsunamis
break down walls
a million hertz
vibrations
no one hears
but stellar
dust that binds
my fuel
as I stream
indivisible
tides bursting
down a trench
five thousand
fathoms deep
on ocean floors
that only
tube worms know
beneath the
undertow
they sway in
formal rhythm
as moons light
fallen stars
salute
my engine
hurtling past
on track to
its prime mission
that can never end
to fuel a galaxy
I know
but cannot
see or hear
