Marbella Honours Its Foreign Residents
May the ninth was a landmark day for two reasons: the Spanish general election campaign started, and it was the Dia de Europa, celebrated by most municipalities in Spain.
The Marbella town hall selected a notable citizen from each EU country to attend a ceremony and receive an award ‘in recognition of [their] efforts on behalf of the ideals of the European Union’. Andrew Linn, one of the founders of the MBI (Marbella Business International, neé Marbella Business Institute 1983) and well-known wine writer for Spanish and English-language publications) represented Great Britain. As a continuation of the ceremony, awards were made to local people who had created links with the foreign community of the Town.
