"The Phantom of the Opera On Ice" by Roberto Danova
The Phantom of the Opera was written by the novelist Gaston Leroux who was born in Paris in 1868. His book was published in 1911 and he lived to see the first film version released in 1925, two years before he died. The story has since inspired many theatre and film producers, as well as composers, and has made The Phantom of the Opera one of the most enduring and fascinating legends around the world.
This spectacular adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera as Drama on Ice was the visionary idea of Vee Deplidge of Wild Rose Theatre Ltd. She commissioned Composer Roberto Danova whose brilliantly lush and original music underscores the supreme performance of the world-class skaters The Russian Ice Stars. Their spellbinding artistry of amazing balletic, technical and precision dancing skills brings an extra dimension to Theatre on Ice and the story of The Phantom of the Opera. Through the universal language of music and dance, a kaleidoscope of human emotions of unrequited love, passion, betrayal and revenge unfold powerfully in this mesmerizing Stage Ice Show produced by Vee Deplidge, directed by Tony Mercer, choreographed by Giuseppe Arena (Teatro della Scala, Milan) and assisted by Evgenny Goremikin and Valeri Petcherski (The Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow).
