Art Attack at BSM – Budding artists raise money for charity at an auction in Marbella

A fundraising Art Auction at the British School of Marbella has raised 312 euros for a children’s charity.

Youngsters at the school swapped pencils for paintbrushes during a special Art Week to create dozens of paintings that were then auctioned off to parents last Friday (October 14).

During the week more than 70 pupils between the ages of two and nine were taught by professional painters before imitating the styles of artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Henri Matisse and Jackson Pollock.

Head Teacher Sian Andrews said: “The work this year is of an extremely high quality and our school could easily be mistaken for a room in the Tate Modern. The children really enjoyed Art Week and the opportunity to sell their work during the exhibition. They are beginning to feel like ‘real artists’ and so they should.” The money is being donated to  , which has a charity shop in Marbella’s Old Town.

Children with Epidermolysis Bullosa have skin as fragile as a butterfly’s wing which can blister at the slightest touch. Normal day-to-day life can cause constant pain and scarring which can lead to eventual disfigurement, disability and early death. For more information visit www.bsm.org.es
