French couple arrested in Estepona; arms cache seized
Police in Estepona have arrested a married couple from France wanted in Spain for theft and in the Netherlands for murder with a firearm. The police announced the arrest on Tuesday. The couple were charged with illegal possession of arms and ammunition, robbery and theft of a vehicle and use of counterfeit registration plates.
At the time of arrest, both suspects, a 29 year-old man and his wife, a 28 year-old woman, were under arrest warrants, according to the National Police. The man has been under a warrant for extradition to the Netherlands since late 2007 for murder with a firearm. The woman has been under a Spanish warrant since October 2005 for theft.
Police seized a cache of illicit weapons from the couple – a shotgun and two submachine guns, ammunition, as well as a luxury vehicle with forged registration plates.
